Enjoy the Tambopata National Reserve by Visiting the Amazon Rainforest in Puerto Maldonado.
TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE: It owns an area of 274 thousand hectares for protection of flora and fauna of the sub-tropical humidity forest, it is part of one of the richest ecosistems around the world, has mega diversity in wildlife that inspires to lot of scientists and tourists from everywhere. The Monte Amazonico Lodge is located close to the buffer zone where tours are allowed for tourists and there they can enjoy one of the natural rainforest worldwide. It is accessible in motor boats from Puerto Maldonado by the basins of the Madre de Dios and Tambopata River
Reception at the airport or bus station and transfer to the office of Monte Amazonico Lodge for final arrangements.
Transfer to the port where we will get the boat for an hour to our lodge. Welcome meeting with a refreshing fruit juice of our region. Set up in our respective rooms.
After a short rest you will have an introduction hike for two hours in the dense amazon rainforest tambopata, guided by an expert local guide who will take you through our trails to see a variety of trees that can have more than five hundred years, at the same time you may observe some species of wild animals such as toucans, orioles, parrots, monkeys, snakes, butterflies, etc. You will have the opportunity to experience the magic of our Amazon Rainforest Tambopata within the Tambopata National Reserve (278,000 thousand hectares protected under Peruvian laws).
After lunch, we will visit the “Monkey Island”, located in front of our lodge across the Madre de Dios River, at this place there are different species of monkeys such as brown capuchin, squirrel monkey, saddle back tamarin and white capuchin, all of them in the island after the activity we will return to the lodge.
At night we go for caiman search, they are generally on the banks of Madre de Dios River and this time we will need to bring a flashlight. With luck we may see the capybara the largest rodent worldwide that can weigh 60 kilos impressive family of the Peruvian cuy; back to the lodge, dinner and night at the lodge.
After early breakfast will do a short boat ride to the entrance of the lake Sandoval, after checking at the check point we will walk 3 kilometers (2 miles aprox.) to the Sandoval Lake (piranha habitat) one of the largest in the Tambopata National Reserve, after the nice walk the guide will get a rowing boat where we will have our navigation on the lake to appreciate many different birds and monkeys Species (Hoatzin cormorant Jacanas, puma heron, eagles, howler monkey, squirrel monkey, black capuchin, tamarins and sloths). Maybe we will meet with the family of giant river otters (almost two meters long) they are indangered species and the largest alligator recorded over 4 meters long, return to the lodge to enjoy a typical lunch. In the evening we will do a night walk where we can appreciate the diversity of insect, amphibians, reptiles and other nocturnal animals. – Dinner and rest
The morning in the jungle will let us see the Amazon Rainforest Tambopata from a different perspective, at about 30 meters high, the bridges will allow us appreciate the nature from a high altitude, we will have a panoramic view of the Madre de Dios River. IMPORTANT.–we recommend to bring mosquito repellent, flashlight, binoculars, personal items, sunscreen, hiking shoes, long shirts and pants to enjoy as much as you can the Amazon Rainforest Tambopata.
4,798Hectares inside the rainforest. In the jungle the rainy season is between November and April which affects the weather, it turns warm and wet, with temperatures that range between 25°C y 40°C and the 99% wet. Between June and November there is an atmospheric phenomenon locally known “El Friaje” or the low temperatures where the weather changes all of a sudden and in few minutes the temperature decreases to 5°C that can last the whole day.
We provide our customers three foods daily: *Breakfast: 5:30am and 7am *Lunch: 1pm and 2pm * Dinner: 7pm and 8pm and if they want, the Bar service. The Buffet service in the Lodge is available since 15 people. Otherwise the service will be served in the table and the foods consist of salads, main courses and desserts mixing the country, peruvian and international cuisene. Also we offer fresh water, coffee or te, and fruit beverages in meal time. The additional orders of fruit beverages, juices, bottle water and sodas will be charged. It is recommend that you let us know if there is any meal requirement, allergies or special diets, just to avaoid any kind inconvenience. In case you have children, we recommend you to contact the Administrator for the final food arrangements.

We offer exotic beverages to satisfy our customers likes, for your safety and others customers safety: It is not allowed neither drinking nor organizing parties in the rooms after the Bar closes (10pm). *You will be throw out with no change to claim in case this policy is not fulfilled.
